Never Work A Day

They say if you do something you love you will never work a day in your life. I agree. The work up here is endless. There are simply not enough hours in the day, not enough days in the week, not enough months in the season to accomplish all my wild dreams (and trust me I have some big visions). I do my best to make lists each day, each week, each month to keep me focused and moving toward my next goal. Sometimes, if you catch me in the right mood, I will complain about how tired I am; but this fatigue is a result of my age and not my work status. With a menagerie of animals in my care my days start early and end late, but my life does not feel like work. My day to day reality feels like vacation, it may even feel better than most of the vacations I have been afforded. People often want to know how I take a vacation and I think to myself “I don’t need one”. I do not need a break from my life. In fact when I do leave my goats for a day or two I find myself more stressed by the outside world and it seems I need to get back to my land and my animals. My animals are my life, my work, my vacation, my passion and my peace. I love the bonds we create and the joys we share. I love the natural order and sustainability of ranch life. I love walking around my trails and sitting by the fire and just soaking in the beauty and simplicity.

This weekend “70’s” was the theme….we served over 70 customers and the temperatures were in the 70’s. It was glorious. The goats were happy to have so many new friends feeding them and spoiling them and I loved every second of sharing them with the awesome folks who came to Not By Luck Ranch. Thank you all for making it another fantastic weekend… it never once felt like work …it felt like pure goat inspired joy :)
