The Worst Sunshine

Spring is finally here. Did you hear that huge sigh of relief? We finally see the sun again, it is shining bright. But this sunshine is the worst type, it’s the kind that fools you with beauty. You see the blue sky and natural light and step into it only to feel frigid air smack you in the face. I can’t think of a better analogy for so many aspects of life. Even goat herding. Goat kids are the cutest creatures on earth but there is also a 40% mortality rate in kidding so while the kids are adorable the level of loss it takes to add the healthy ones is also like a slap in the face. I am so happy that our does gave us six healthy kids to add to our herd this Spring. The kids were born in the blizzard so they too are ready for the sunshine. Today is Easter Sunday and of course this day is a reminder of hope. I will take advantage of the sunshine, despite the cold that it hides, as a reminder that better days are always ahead; and making our own luck is a great way to bring about positive change. I hope you come and visit the goats soon, the kids are adorable and the sun is shining. And for the record with the proper preparation the cold really isn’t all that bad :) “Hoppy” Easter to you all!
